Consistency is a beautiful trait. I remember when our youngest was not quite school age, and was being watched during the day by his grandparents. Yet, our life was about to shift dramatically. A month after my husband was elected as the Democratic nominee for the Wyandotte County D.A.’s office, his mother passed away unexpectedly. Everyone had to figure out what life looked like without Mother Dupree. But no one had more to figure out than her husband of over 40 years, Pastor Dupree.
Prayer was important throughout Pastor Dupree’s life, but after his wife passed away- he began praying & fasting on a whole other level.
He began having noon day prayer at the church, everyday. So I decided if my work schedule allowed it- I would pop in from time to time.
I was able to stop in, usually with our youngest child with me. These times of prayer helped me during this hard season. It didn’t hurt that usually after prayer Pastor Dupree would take his grandson for a few hours- which our youngest son loved and I valued. I truly do appreciate the year Pastor Dupree had left with us, and the time I spent understanding him more.
I credit this to consistency. Many people say they are going to do something- but don’t follow through. Or we start- but don’t complete the God given assignment because of many reasons, not including or limited to:
1. It’s no longer exciting;
2. We don’t have a large amount of people cheering us on;
3. Other people are not excited about it;
4. We don’t see immediate results.
5.It gets difficult.
Pastor Dupree would hold prayer if he was the only one in the building. It wasn’t about the numbers it was about obedience to what God told him to do.
I hope you will join me in praying for laser focused consistency- “when God says it….that settles it.”
In Jesus name.
